This shot by Owen Daly was taken during the closing hours of the 1998 Berkeley Festival in the exhibition space he shared with John Phillips.
It documents the spontaneous, once-in-a-blue-moon convergence of four John Phillips harpsichords, four players, and two sets of part books for Janine Johnson's two-keyboard arrangement of Rameau's Pieces de Clavecin en Concert. Instruments and players, from left to right:
- French double after 1707 Dumont, Don Simons
- Franco/Flemish double after 1648/1780 Ruckers/Taskin, Yuko Tanaka
- Italian single after 1681 Giusti, Steve Lehning
- French double after 1733 Blanchet, Janine Johnson.
